A clear guide to selling eligible gold jewellery from home

Selling gold by post is simpler than most people expect. There is no form to fill in online, nothing to photograph for us, and no commitment until you've seen a written offer. Here is the whole thing on one page.

The five steps

  1. Download the free seller guide. Print the four-page seller form and sign it (or ask us to post you a printed copy). Get it here.
  2. Pack. Each piece in its own little bag, all of it in a padded bag or small box with the declaration.
  3. Post tracked. Registered or Express Post with signature to PO Box 5165, Mordialloc VIC 3195. Keep the receipt.
  4. Read your offer. We email an itemised offer: each piece, its purity, grams, rate per gram and total.
  5. Decide. Accept and we pay by bank transfer and reimburse your postage. Decline and your gold comes back free, tracked.

The three things you need

  • To be 18 or over and own the items (or be authorised to sell them).
  • Photo ID: a driver licence, passport or proof-of-age card, uploaded in your free My Gold Account or enclosed as a copy. Victorian dealer law requires it for every purchase.
  • An Australian bank account in your name for payment. We never pay cash.

What you don't need

You don't need to know the carat or weight, describe your items, make an enquiry first, or even have a printer (we can post you the printed form, or a handwritten declaration is fine). You don't need to accept anything.

What it costs

Nothing. There are no assessment or handling fees, return postage is free, and your outward postage is reimbursed when you accept. The rate per gram in your offer is the published rate on our Gold Prices page.
