What Gold Do We Buy?

Almost any form of non-bullion gold can be assessed, in almost any physical condition. Broken, bent, scratched, tangled, melted or unwanted; the form of the gold doesn't automatically prevent an assessment. You do not need to repair or polish jewellery.

What types of gold do we assess?

  • Gold jewellery: rings, chains, bracelets, pendants, earrings, single earrings, snapped clasps, broken pieces and unwanted jewellery.
  • Scrap gold: genuine gold fragments, damaged pieces, offcuts and other recoverable gold-bearing material, subject to appropriate testing and handling.
  • Melted gold: solidified melts, buttons and irregular gold pieces, subject to origin checks, testing and suitable shipping arrangements.
  • Non-bullion gold coins: eligible gold coins that are not investment bullion, subject to confirmation of composition and permitted acceptance. Collectible or numismatic coins may have value above metal value; consider an independent coin appraisal before selling.
  • Dental gold: clean, removed gold dental crowns, bridges and eligible dental alloy pieces. Do not send teeth, tissue, sharps or potentially contaminated medical waste. Contact us first to confirm handling and carrier eligibility.
  • Other non-bullion gold: qualifying gold items or materials may be considered individually. Tell us what you have before sending unusual items.

What don't we buy through this service?

Investment bullion, including bullion bars and bullion coins, is excluded. Gold-plated and gold-filled items may not contain sufficient recoverable gold and require assessment before acceptance. We do not accept hazardous, biological, suspicious or unlawfully obtained materials.

Does condition matter?

For eligible genuine gold, no: broken and damaged items may still be suitable for assessment. An item's shape, wear or repair status does not automatically prevent the metal content from being tested. Some unusual materials require special processing and may not be eligible for the normal mail-in service.

How do we calculate the offer?

We assess the actual precious-metal content and apply the relevant buying rate. Read the Gold Prices page for buying rates and our single metal-value purchasing disclosure. Collectable, antique or designer items may be worth more to a specialist buyer than their metal content.
